Touching Lives From a Distance

I’m sitting here at my computer, listening to the amazing new inspiring Angels and Airwaves album, digging through my backlog in Google Reader, and hit a 43 Folders post about Leslie Harpold, who died way too young at the age of 40 about a year ago. I had never heard of her before, but she sounded like one of those rare, incredibly strong personalities who touched the lives of many people who had never even met her. Many people “met” her while trying to get started with a presence on the Web, and she apparently had a major influence on them.

Several eulogies made reference to a post she once wrote entitled “Possible Scenarios for Heaven”, which is rather sad, considering. I’m strongly intrigued by powerful and influential personalities (I married one), so I started getting lost in many eulogy posts, as Angels and Airwaves rode me through them. But as I tried clicking on links to her articles, I felt especially sad that the website of such a person had also died. Why hadn’t anyone grabbed the URL for the sake of keeping it alive?

Luckily for us, The Wayback Machine exists, and I was able to find her old posts, including Possible Scenarios for Heaven. I recommend reading it while listening to amazing uplifting music, like I am.

And for an inspiring taste of making a difference just by being who you are, peruse these links.

Leslie, I wish I knew you.
